A signature makeup look is something that can be done quickly that makes you feel confident and ready to tackle the day. It is a daily makeup routine that you can achieve with minimal effort yielding maximum results.
Your signature look works for your age, skin type and lifestyle. Don't worry about what other people are doing. It works for work, running errands, visiting friends and for dinners out. It may take some time to experiment with the right products, textures and tools- but it's makeup, it should be fun. So here are a few of my suggestions to get you inspired to create a signature look for yourself.
The "Gwen"
Bold Lip
Gwen Stefani is as known for her music as her signature bold lip. Usually red, she is rarely seen without it. Gwen knows that a red lip quickly livens up the whole face, and she has mastered it. A red lip can seem intimidating so my tip is try wearing one around the house for the day to get used to it- kind of like breaking in a new pair of shoes, you have to sometimes break-in a new lip colour as well. MAC Ruby Woo is a long lasting red that looks good on every one.
The "Alexa"
Flick Maven
Alexa loves her liner. She has round eyes, so she gives them that feline flick and it works for her. Mastering liner can take time. Practice makes perfect! Finding the right formulation is key- whether it's a gel liner, a liquid liner, or a pencil, experiment with a few before committing. Benefit makes a great gel liner in a stick form for easy application.
The "Blake"
Shimmer Queen
Blake has hooded eyes so she works the light shimmery eye shadows to open up the eyes. She is also quite lashy, as full fat lashes help to make the eyes appear larger. Since her eyes are the focus, Blake usually wears nudes and pinks on the lips and cheeks, finishing with a bronzy glow. This makeup would be my pick as a signature look because it is very beautifying. MAC Vanilla pigment is a great inner eye highlight and can be used on the cheek bones as well.
The "Kate"
Liner Lover
Kate Middleton is the queen of the signature look- she even wore an amped up version for her wedding day. That's the power of the signature look- it can be adjusted to suit any occasion. She is definitely an eyeliner lover, but she really wears a full face of makeup every day. This is suited to her lifestyle. She employed a makeup artist to teach her to apply her own makeup for her wedding day. Anastasia liner is easy to hold and sets in place for all-day wear.
Learning about your face and what makeup suits you can be a real confidence booster. That's what the signature look is all about. If you naturally gravitate towards a bold lip, go for it. If liner calls your name, you should listen to that voice. Make 2015 the year of your signature look.
