What to Try, Buy & Skip: Stella & Dot

Stella & Dot might be new to some, but it has been around for a while. A social selling company that offers it's customers free product in exchange for hosting a "trunk show" a get-together of friends or ladies night where everyone gets to try before they buy. If your friends purchase, the hostess gets free jewelery and 50% off status for introducing her friends to the line. Also, everyone who attends the trunk show gets access to the trunk show exclusives, a selection of products at 50% off, which changes up every month. It's basically a great way to get rewarded for giving word of mouth to a product that you like, and end up telling your friends and family about usually anyways.

Since everything is online (there are no retail stores that sell the line) the trunk show is a good way to see something in person before you buy it, so you are not disappointed when you open that box. You can also do an online trunk show, which you invite your friends to, but everything is online. Anyways, on to the jewelery.

Here are my picks from the line. The Spring 2015 Collection just launched, so some are from that collection, and some are from the main line. Stella and Dot refresh their stock often and do seasonal and face book sales, so if there is something you love, especially if it is limited edition, it ends up selling out pretty quick.

Deja Vu Double Sided Studs

These babies are an accessory staple and the perfect combination of  classic and edgy. They are also reversible, if you are not feeling the pave on certain days. Available in gold, silver and rose gold, they are pretty perfect.

Rebel Cluster Necklace

A great pre-layered necklace that does the work for you, put this one on with one foot out the door and it can easily take you from day to night. The perfect amount of sparkle, this necklace is chic and goes with everything.

Alice Bracelet

This dainty piece is a great layering bracelet, but I love it on it's own. Don't be fooled by it's dainty silhouette, this bracelet gives off a serious amount of sparkle. A play off the classic "tennis" bracelet, it is already one of S&D's bestsellers.

Pave Chevron Necklace

Another pre-layered piece, this baby can be worn a multitude of ways. Reverse one two or three of the strands to show the shiny gold rather than the pave. Layer strands with your favourite delicates or charm necklaces. Or wear one strand with your favourite statement necklace. This is a great piece because you get a lot of wear out of it.

Renegade Stretch Bracelet

This is one of Stella & Dot's all time bestsellers and continues to bring it home every season. Recently released in rose gold, this baby comes in classic gold and silver as well. I like to wear my gold and silver together, mixing metals lets you play more with what you  already have. The elastic stretch means this bracelet will fit most wrist sizes.

Janice Studs

These beauties come in several colours and add a hit of colour to any outfit without being garish. What girl doesn`t love a good stud?

Ear Jacket

New to the line this month, ear jackets are a cool addition to the hoop, stud and chandelier earring family. Stella and Dot are known for their versatility and these babies can be worn alone, as a single stud, or with to polish the look, with the jacket. If you are looking for something new or unique, give these a try.

Adding a pop of colour can really brighten your mood. If you have a ton of neutrals in your wardrobe, some fun bright colour will boost those heather grays and winter whites and bring them right into spring and summer.

Getaway Bag

Although I like the expandable zipper, I found the quality on this bag a little questionable. The prints are beautiful but I need a good solid bag, and this unfortunately didn't fit the bill.

Mixed Metal Sutton Necklace

The first of it's kind, I could never get completely on board with this necklace. It has been on the bestseller list since it's inception, but it just felt cheap to me. I think the new gold and silver versions are much better.

Now, lots of people love these scarves, but I find they don't stay new for very long. Again, I like things to be durable, and the scarves I have purchased snag so easily, and just don't hold up. Not a fan.

Hang On (Hanging Travel Case)

I liked the concept of this a lot, but once I started to use this, I found it supremely bulky, and I hadn't even really filled it up. I think Stella & Dot are phasing these out, and I think there could be work done on the design of these travel companions.
