Bridal Beauty Series: Romantic Makeup & Headpieces

Taking beauty inspiration from classic headpieces albeit a tiara, hairpin or headband can open up a world of colour and texture to play with. With their gorgeous shimmering neutral palette, the complexion glows with gilded lids or rich red lips.  Likewise, soft pinks, corals and shimmery earth-tones look effortless and bring to mind imagery from A Midsummer’s Night Dream- ethereal beauty that aligns itself with the romance of the bride to be on her wedding day.
However, keep in mind that hair and makeup should always be balanced yet defined, and suit your skin tone, dress and personal style. Consider scale as well, as your headpiece should work with the proportions of your dress and hair.

Nude & Pink

Bridal Beauty Tip

Wearing nude lips on your big day can be tricky, depending on your skin tone and if your natural lip colour is already very pigmented. Try lining your lips with a lip pencil in a tone that matches your natural lip colour, than adding a golden-nude gloss over top, if you really crave that look.

Golds & Coral

 Bridal Beauty Tip

Coral is a universally flattering shade, and instantly brightens and warms the complexion. It also has a very feminine and youthful vibe-  perfect for any bride on her wedding day! Coral also pairs well with metallic and earthy shades. For those ladies who want that sun-kissed glow- coral is the perfect compliment against tanned skin.

Copper & Terracotta

Bridal Beauty Tip

Earth tones, like warm terracotta and cool copper tones are always a great choice, especially if you are doing your own makeup. Across the spectrum of skin tones, warm suede and caramel tones can offset beautiful glowing skin and whatever lip colour you choose. For blue eyes, choose a terracotta colour- something on the warmer, more orange side to make eyes pop. For hazel eyes, choose something more golden, to make the green in your eyes come alive.

 Red

 Bridal Beauty Tip

Red lips is for the bold, but keep your lip colour in check so it lasts throughout the ceremony and reception. There are many new products on the market that boast staying power while keeping lips relatively creamy and hydrated. The key to making makeup last, whether it’s lips, eyes, or cheeks is layering and building the colour up. For lips, try layering a long wear pencil, then a stain and blot. Add the stain again and then a pigmented gloss over top if you wish.
