Makeup Standouts at the 2015 Golden Globes

Kate Beckinsale looked amazing last night, proving that age is just a number. Her golden-bronze look was subtle but still ethereal, with just the right amount of glow.

I loved the overall diffused softness of this look. I also love that it appears she is not wearing false lashes, which makes this look so wearable. For her over all luminosity go for textures with light diffusing properties and a very fine amount of shimmer. The Hourglass Ambient Light palettes would be great for this, as well as the bronzer and highlight duo by Charlotte Tilbury.

Another beauty winner from last night was Allison Williams. I call this look grown-up smokey eyes.

This makeup really accentuates Allison's natural beauty. She didn't go for the easy red lip to match her dress. This makeup truly could go with any dress or hair, because it brings out her best features. Ina sense, the makeup is not entering the room first, her lovely face is. The soft wash of colour with a slightly pulled-out shape complements her eyes beautifully. I also love the softness of the charcoal, it's not a heavy black in the water-lines. Her brows parallel the eye shadow shape beautifully. The rest of her makeup is flawless but neutral, that earthy-pink that looks so natural, because we all have brown in our skin. Spice lip liner by MAC is a great shade for the lips, a cult favourite. For the eyes, I would try Satin Taupe eye shadow, also by MAC.

Jennifer Lopez also graced us with her presence last night, and I have to say, she is striking but I would love to see her in a more natural look. I think her makeup and hair was a heavy-handed and didn't let her natural beauty shine through.

The tones of her makeup, the purple-browns are beautiful, but the heavy contour and bronzer ruined it for me. Also, that super nude lipstick is a bit dated. I'd love to see more translucent skin, since she has amazing skin naturally. Also, that fake over highlighted hair is a bit over the top.

Last but certainly not least is Felicity Jones. It was nice to see some spring-like colour on the red carpet. She was the ultimate tri-fecta of hair-makeup-dress perfection.

Soft corals and a soft smokey teal was my favourite look of the night. Felicity's makeup was done by makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani and you can head to her instagram to look at what she used (mostly Dior). A great eye shadow palette is Pied De Poule 96 (which translates to houndstooth) with it's muddy grays, greens and browns for that sultry smokey eye that has a little colour to it. Her pop of coral is also dior, but a great match for less is the Revlon lip butter in tutti-frutti.
